There are other ways to support her aside from spending money. But because of this societal expectation, men may end up neglecting&nbsp; other ways that they could show up. Please note that there\u2019s nothing wrong with willingly choosing to be the provider. If that\u2019s what both you and your partner want, then it\u2019s all good.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if you feel obligated or pressured, it may be time to change the dynamic or the relationship. Open communication and a willingness to meet in the middle are vital skills for any relationship, especially a romantic connection, to thrive. Also, \u201cthrowing money\u201d at your partner is never going to be able to substitute meeting the rest of her needs, such as being emotionally present. It also shouldn\u2019t be used as a crutch for dealing with unresolved issues or conflicts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7 Ways to Show Women That You Care&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that we have tackled the number one misconception of what supporting a woman means, it\u2019s time to delve into how you can express your adoration for her. Here are seven underrated ways in which you can treasure the amazing women in your life:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do Half of the Chores&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the mindset has been shifting regarding traditional gender roles, women still tend to find themselves <a href=\"https:\/\/eige.europa.eu\/publications-resources\/toolkits-guides\/gender-equality-index-2021-report\/gender-differences-household-chores?language_content_entity=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">handling most of the household chores<\/a>. Chores can be time-consuming, and they can also add to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/money\/2022\/aug\/15\/how-to-achieve-an-equal-split-of-household-chores-kate-mangino\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mental load<\/a> of your partner. Keep in mind that, these days, women are expected to contribute half of the expenses, as is fair when striving for true gender equality. However, they also tend to shoulder the bulk of the chores. And if there\u2019s a child in the mix, they\u2019re also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mother.ly\/career-money\/work-and-motherhood\/why-are-women-expected-to-work-like-they-dont-have-children-and-mother-like-they-dont-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expected to take the lead there because <\/a>they\u2019re the \u201cmother.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All this can end up draining the women around you (which may make them crankier too). So, as an adult, do your half of the chores. It doesn\u2019t have to be an exact split, which means you don\u2019t necessarily need to do the dishes half the time. But you need to do your part. So, if you\u2019re good at cooking, you can take on that responsibility. If she loves cleaning the house, she can take on that role. Again, communicate. But again, it should be a team effort. Both of you played an equal part in creating the beautiful lives you are now responsible for. This means that both of you are equally responsible. If your baby is bottle-fed, for example, make sure that you are also helping with that. Of course, you can\u2019t really delegate things like breastfeeding. In which case, find something that you can do to help.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t wait for your wife or partner to tell you exactly how you should parent your child. Proactively read bedtime stories or play with your children. If anything, don\u2019t even measure how much you\u2019re doing. Just do whatever you can. Strive for balance. Show up as best as you can, both for your family and for yourself. Remember, you matter too, and you can give more if you yourself are \u201cfull tank.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Provide Emotional Support&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is another essential skill to have, regardless of what type of relationship you have with a woman (or anyone, really). Humans are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesocialcreatures.org\/thecreaturetimes\/evolution-of-social-connection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">social creatures<\/a>, which means that we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.calm.com\/blog\/co-regulation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">co-regulate<\/a> and thrive when we can healthily share our emotions. But if you haven\u2019t learned to work with your own emotions, it can be hard to fully participate emotionally with others. This can take a huge toll on your relationship. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/emotionally-unavailable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emotional unavailability<\/a> is one of the causes of breakups among couples.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also isn\u2019t fair for only one person to handle the emotional load of the relationship. And again, it\u2019s give and take. This means that while you should emotionally support your woman, she should do the same in return. Being there to call out the doctor and help your partner advocate for herself so that she can get the treatment she needs goes a long way. And yes, in some cases, men are still taken more seriously compared to women. Also, when you accompany a woman, she is safer because she is less likely to be assaulted by another person.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Call Out Misogyny&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, we mentioned medical invalidation. Another thing you can do is to speak out against any kind of <a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/story\/2025\/03\/1160876\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">misogyny<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imd.org\/blog\/leadership\/gender-inequality-in-the-workplace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">discrimination<\/a> that you witness against women. Of course, this doesn\u2019t mean putting yourself in danger. But if you can stand up so that a woman can get the fair treatment that she deserves, that\u2019s already a lot of help. Not only do you help a woman, but you also contribute collectively as you may influence others\u2019 attitudes.
